Hi everyone! Well, made you a video blog but my iPhone ran out of room so it cuts off abruptly. Just know that I was going to say bye properly. LOL!

So I worked for about 2 hours today, including making videos, setting the tech stuff up. As I was working, I took notes of every step:

  • Registered domain – becomeabadassbeauty.com
  • Made my first video blog
  • Created hosting account for the domain
  • Pointed nameservers to new hosting
  • Installed blog
  • Deleted Hello Dolly
  • Deleted Jetpack
  • Activated Akismet
  • Deleted MOJO Marketplace
  • Deleted WP Super Cache
  • Added contact form 7
  • Added Greg’s Threaded Comment Numbering
  • Added W3 Total Cache
  • Added WP Socializer
  • Installed twenty-ten theme
  • Ordered a Header for my blog ($27 and told him about an image I like style wise, which is here)
  • Wrote my first blog post to go with the video
  • Set up the Aweber list (always do this from day 1)
  • Created About page video blog
  • Installed Sign up form in sidebar and deleted Meta Data (through Widget area)
  • Ordered scale (tool for niche – and 1st monetization of site)
  • Posted link to first blog post on Twitter, FB and G+
  • I also noticed that when I was approving comments, my Gravatar wasn’t connected, so I did that.

So that’s what I did on day 2.

Feeling pretty productive.

I’m curious why you deleted jetpack. With all it does, I like to keep it.

      • Tiffany

It doesn’t do a lot I want and what it does do, I already like other plugins for. There are many good threads about “why I won’t use jetpack” on blogs that echo me – I just don’t like a big “all in one” plugin. LOL Picky. But keep it if you like it ๐Ÿ™‚ We all have preferences. lol

Wow! And in two hours. It was helpful for me to see what you kept and what you got rid of as far as plugins. Still need to look at the links you shared, and looking forward to the next post.

      Hi Tiffany:
Great Post here. I am always amazed at how much work you get done in such a short time. I am really excited to watch you build your new non IM website. You are off to a great start for sure. I like your domain name also. Take Care, Sam

I am following along on your journey and starting my own (and doing it afraid)!

Was wondering how you get your Gravatar to appear at all? I can’t seem to find how to add it anywhere inside the admin area of WordPress.

Thanks for sharing your journey with us. You’re going to rock the house with one, I can just feel it!

      • Tiffany

Go to Gravatar.com and upload and pic and connect it to whatever address you use for your site. Under Settings and Discussion choose Gravatar at the bottom ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hi Tiff,

Do you use Hostgator’s Quick Install or do you go through that complicated secure process of downloading WordPress, using an FTP etc., etc.?

      • Tiffany

        Yes QuickInstall ๐Ÿ™‚
