If you’ve been on my list for years, you know that heading into the end of a year, I always become laser focused and tighten up my marketing strategy. I don’t know what it is, but I’m more likely to be determined and strategic now than I am for New Year’s.

Maybe it’s because I want to end the year on a good note. One thing I keep hearing about is “Lock in 2025.” It’s a whole mindset and focus plan for those who want to use the last third of the year to achieve goals and finish strong.

I love this because you want to look back on your year as one of success, not failure. And even if the first two-thirds were a flop, ending strong is a win moving into the coming year.

Traditionally, I like to spend the 4th quarter doing this, but a Sept-Dec game plan sounds even better.

“Locking in” means committing fully. Full tilt boogie. You’re eliminating the option of failure by removing distractions, excuses, and half-hearted attempts. We all have them – might be in business or health, whatever.

When you lock in, you’re telling yourself (and everyone around you) that 2025 is non-negotiable. It’s the year you execute to completion. Let’s look at what that might look like for you in terms of steps…

Step 1: Write Down What “Locking In” Means for You

You can’t lock in on everything. Don’t even try it.

Spreading yourself too thin is the fastest way to end up nowhere. Pick 2-3 things that matter most for your year’s end. Maybe it’s finally turning your side hustle into a full-time business. Maybe it’s doubling down on your health efforts so you feel human again.

Maybe it’s engaging in some self-care, if you’ve neglected your happiness for too long. Be specific. Don’t just say “I want to do better.” Decide what better looks like in measurable terms. If it’s income goals, how much? Daily habits? Don’t be generic and say “get more sleep.” How many hours? What times? Talk about completed projects and milestones you want to hit.

Step 2: Build Your Own Systems – Don’t Rely on Good Intentions

Motivation is a great spark to initially take action, but systems are what matter most for longevity. If you say you’re going to post three times a week to your blog, become a beast with your content planning ahead of time. If you want to grow your email list, create back-up ideas or buy PLR so it doesn’t depend on your current mood. Locking in means removing as many chances for procrastination as possible. Use whatever tools, alarm systems, and accountability measures you need to make your process bulletproof.

Step 3: Protect Your Energy Like It’s Currency

You only have so much mental, emotional, and physical energy. Stop giving it away to things that don’t matter. Cut back on the endless doom-scrolling, toxic conversations, or chasing ten different strategies at once. When you lock in, you learn to say no more often. It’s not because you’re selfish, but because you’re serious.

Step 4: Execute Fast, Tweak Later

Perfectionism is just procrastination in disguise. If you wait until everything feels flawless, 2025 will slip through your fingers and you’ll be disappointed and ashamed again. Instead, focus on execution. Launch the course. Start the YouTube channel. Write the book. Get it out there and adjust as you go. Winners aren’t the ones with the perfect plan. They’re the ones who took action when everyone else hesitated.

Step 5: Keep Score and Celebrate Wins

Locking in is a marathon, not a sprint. Track your progress every week. Did you hit your goals or even get closer to them? Did you show up when you said you would? Keep a visible scorecard so you can see where you’re winning and where you need to course-correct. And celebrate the progress. Each small victory adds momentum that carries you through the hard days.

Are there going to be setbacks and times when you flop? Yes. Get back on the horse, though – right away! It’s the best way to gain momentum. Consistency as often as possible.

Where My 2025 Lock In Is Taking Me

I’ve built an amazing life for myself – year after year earning six figures that grows. I travel with my kids and have fun. I have great relationships with them and I have my rescue animals I adore. I always have those final two things I need to master, though – fat and fiction.

But I’m trying to find different ways to do them. With fiction, I’ve started making progress by having a systematic AI editing process after I write. Having it work with me to refine and perfect what I am saying is a great boost. Now it’s just a matter of consistently working on it.

I tend to go all in on PLR and ignore my fiction. Then there’s fat. I’ve been working on that with good results lately, too – making sure I don’t see the scale is helping. My kids track my scale for me and just let me know if and when I need to adjust my food intake (so far I haven’t – been losing steadily).

But I am locking in by working to adhere to my former nutritionist’s rules of mindful eating. Eating within 2 hours of waking, eating every 2-3 hours, always pairing a protein and a carb, and watching hunger cues. For activity, I’m just deep cleaning and I have a storage room that I’m working through but once all of this is done, I’ll be gardening in the big raised beds I bought that my son is setting up for me.

Locking in for 2025 for me isn’t just wishing and hoping. It’s deciding I’m going to get what I want. It’s the discipline of saying, “This is my year, and I’m not leaving without results.” When you lock in, you stop living on autopilot and start steering your life with intention.

So write it down. Post it on your wall. Make it your mantra: Lock in 2025. Because the only thing standing between you and the version of yourself you want to become is how hard you’re willing to commit right now.

Tiff 🙂
